Assessment Policies

1. All clients are expected to maintain their sobriety after the initial referral to the program. Use of alcohol or illicit drugs voids acceptance to the program. If in the course of treatment it is determined that a client relapsed while on the waiting list, he will be discharged immediately.

2. The recommended length of stay for the rehabilitation program is between 4 – 6 months depending on treatment plan.

3. A client may not apply for driving permission while he is in the Intensive Treatment Phase of the rehabilitation program. Halfway House clients must have at least sixty (60) days of verified sobriety before they may apply for personal driving permission. A client may not bring or have his automobile on the property without having personal driving permission.

4. The main focus of the North Cottage Program is rehabilitation, not employment. Clients are not permitted to work in the first phase of the program. A client must have his counselor’s permission to gain employment.

5. Massachusetts clients with income are required to make a co-payment of 50% of their income up to a maximum of $102.53 per day. Court mandated child support payments will be deducted from net income prior to determining payment to the program. Non-Massachusetts residents are responsible for the full daily rate of $102.53 per day. I understand and agree that if I leave North Cottage program owing a balance, I will pay that money in a timely fashion, or if my funds are managed by a payee, the payee is obligated to pay the balance from my funds as quickly as is practicable.

6. I understand that it is my responsibility to notify the North Cottage Program if any information given during the screening interview changes while awaiting admission, including medication changes.

7. North Cottage Program provides a smoke-free environment. Smoking is not allowed in the buildings. Clients with life-threatening conditions normally thought of as smoking related, will be required to quit.

8. I understand that providing observed urines when requested, is a requirement of participation in the North Cottage Program.
